Renaissance Day at the Courthouse –  Enjoy history, fun, games, colonial exhibits, good food, arts and crafts and fellowship with fellow citizens of the county.  This community event encourages folks to dress in period costumes, share the craftsmanship of colonial days, purchase arts and crafts of that time period, enjoy dulcimer music, campfire-cooked food, and socialize with friends and neighbors from several generations. In addition to the traditional demonstrations, fun and games, new features in 2017 will include gospel, bluegrass and country music, a huge Easter egg hunt (with prize eggs), homemade quilts and aprons, arts and crafts vendors, and a public service vehicle and old car show. Cost: free; however donations to the museum are always encouraged. Date: Saturday, April 15, 2017. Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Separate But Equal – African American Schools in Mississippi – #5 Fulton Street, Burnsville. One hour free program by Jennifer Baughn, Chief Architectural Historian, Mississippi Department of Archives & History recalls the struggles of segregation but also the attempts to overcome it. Date: Thursday, May 25, 2017. Time: 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. Cost: free

Camp Pioneer School – Children will explore history and the arts through creative activities and games at the early 19 th century one-room school. Students who attend the pioneer school day camp will dress in period clothing, enjoy lunch packed in a tin bucket, and will play period games and engage in period crafts. $10.00 per child. Must register in advance. Lunch will be provided. Date: Thursday, June 1, 2017. Time: 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost: $10.00.

Old Tishomingo County Genealogy Fair – Sister counties, Alcorn, Prentiss and Tishomingo Unite in History for an Old Tishomingo County Genealogy Fair. Date: Usually in August (rotates between sisters counties: Alcorn, Prentiss, Tishomingo). Alcorn County will host in 2017.

Heritage Day – Visit the Old Tishomingo County Courthouse Museum during Iuka’s Heritage Day Festival. Date: Saturday, September 2, 2017. Cost: free; however donations to the museum are always encouraged.

Christmas Open House – Watch the Christmas parade from inside the historic courtroom at the Old Tishomingo County Courthouse. Date: Friday, December 2, 2017. Cost: free; however donations to the museum are always encouraged.
