Marshall Stone Research Library
John Marshall Stone Research Library serves as an
archival depository for the Tishomingo County Historical
& Genealogical Society.
purpose is to collect, preserve, index, and make
records of the history of Tishomingo County, Mississippi,
available to researchers. The research library seeks
to provide a strong in-house collection of historical
and genealogical information that meets the broad
information needs of its patrons.
for Using Materials:

tobacco products are NOT permitted.

must use pencils or laptop computers only.
may use loose paper, index cards, or a laptop computer
for taking notes. All other personal belongings
must be stored. Please silence all cell phones.

Please keep all material in the order in which you
items with care. Do not mark, fold, lean on, or
mutilate documents in any way. Do not use post-it
notes. Patrons may be requested to wear gloves when
handling certain items. Theft, destruction, or mutilation
of any of these materials is a crime.

valuable, too large, or restricted by the donor.
When allowed, photocopying is limited to single
copies for the patrons reference use only.
Ask for assistance. Do not separate material you
wish to have reproduced. Photocopying decisions
will be made on a case-by-case basis by the staff.

and the patron assumes sole responsibility for any
infringement of the literary rights, copyrights,
or other rights which pertain to these materials.

Maps and drawings
about Tishomingo County, Mississippi, are routinely
acquired and placed in the Tishomingo County Collection.
Books by Mississippi authors, relating to genealogical
and historical subjects, are generally acquired
and placed in other pertinent collections. Other
collections maintained in the research library include,
but are not limited to: an African American Collection,
a Native American Collection, a Military Collection,
and genealogical collections of various states.
